Prospecting Rule-Unavailable PDF Print E-mail

There are lots of guidelines to follow when prospecting, and you can number them any way you like. On a long, long list, this is one of the most effective tactic. It is...Be unavailable. Let prospects know you are not taking on new clients at this time, and that you will be glad to set them up with another trainer who can help them reach their goals.  It sends the message that your time is valuable, and that you are a busy sought after trainer. It also alleviates a lot of pressure for both parties. Then you can choose to train them or set them up with another trainer, you are in control.
 
Remember that when you are prospecting, you are not just looking for prospects to accept you as their trainer, you are interviewing them to so see if they are your clients. Be selective, trying to be everything to everybody is not just exhausting, it is a royal pain.
 
If you want to spend an hour pretending to be something you are not, be an actor. If you want to make money helping people through fitness and healthy, helpful guidance, be a trainer. Don't try to be both!
